With the weather this nice, how could you not want to explore the amazing local wineries? I had the pleasure of touring Healdsburg’s Medlock Ames Bell Mountain Ranch property and tasting some of their delicious wines recently, and I think it’s a perfect excursion for a sunny weekend.

We started with a little “walking wine” (their delicious 2017 Rosé) and strolled over to their adorable garden. All of their produce and wine are grown organically, and they participate in a local school lunch program with their fresh fruits and veggies.

Next, we checked out the gorgeous vineyards and learned about their story of finding the perfect piece of property tucked away in Alexander Valley and how they weave respecting the vineyards and nature into all aspects of the winemaking and farming process.

Then we were guided through the winery, learning about the process making wine – from the initial grapes to aging to how to blend for a perfect end product.

Finally, we gathered for a wine tasting at a gorgeous outdoor patio overlooking the winery. We were served four different wines with cheese and jam pairings (my personal favorite wines were the 2016 Chardonnay and the 2017 Rosé, and I loved the Rosé and the Citrus Marmalade so much that I bought some to take home).

Medlock Ames has both a tasting room and a private property, and I went to the later. Private tours and tastings are available to book in advance at $40 per person, and I absolutely recommend the Bell Mountain Ranch tour for those who want to learn more about the winemaking process or those who love a relaxed experience with delicious wine!
